Focus groups are “qualitative” research tools used to probe the depth of public opinion and refine messages and strategies. They are used to evaluate and probe deeply into “how and why” people feel about a particular issue or subject and how they respond to factors related to the topic. Focus groups can be used to test reactions to mail pieces, TV or radio commercials, Internet ads, Facebook or Twitter posts, and other communications.
